Rendezvous with Destiny: Security Traders, 107 and the Duty to Foster the Future

Fostering the Future by Melania Trump #BeBest

Ronald Reagan challenged Americans to preserve opportunity for the generation that followed. Six decades later, First Lady Melania Trump is translating that principle into something tangible: education, technology, financial independence and ownership for young Americans who began life without many of the advantages others take for granted.

There are moments when a phrase outlives the speech that introduced it.

On October 27, 1964, Ronald Reagan concluded A Time for Choosing with nine words that would become inseparable from his political legacy:

“You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.”

Reagan’s argument ultimately turned toward the inheritance America would leave its children. Liberty was not simply something to possess in the present; it carried an obligation to preserve opportunity for those who would follow.

We’ll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.

President Ronald Reagan

More than sixty years later, that principle deserves renewed attention—not merely as rhetoric, but as action.

From #BeBest to Building Independence

First Lady Melania Trump established Fostering the Future in 2021 as an initiative of BeBest, initially concentrating on educational opportunities for young people from the foster-care community. The program has since evolved substantially, bringing together higher education, technology, employment pathways, housing support and financial independence.

In November 2025, the Fostering the Future initiative became part of a broader federal effort through an Executive Order aimed at modernizing America’s foster-care system and developing public-private partnerships for young people transitioning into adulthood. The framework included educational and employment pathways, mentorship and technology-enabled resources intended to help foster youth develop personalized plans for independence.

That distinction matters.

Awareness identifies a problem. Architecture changes an outcome.

Security Traders commends First Lady Melania Trump for moving the conversation toward architecture.

Education Becomes an Asset

The First Lady’s strategy has increasingly centered upon a powerful economic idea: help a young person acquire assets that cannot easily be taken away.

Education is one such asset.

Technical ability is another.

Professional relationships are another.

Financial knowledge is another.

And increasingly, actual financial ownership is being introduced into the equation.

In June 2026, the First Lady and the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced Fostering the Future Accounts, described by the White House as America’s first savings and investment vehicle specifically for youth in foster care. Twenty-three governors had pledged participation at the time of the announcement. The stated objective is unusually direct: give foster youth an opportunity to enter adulthood possessing financial assets of their own.

For Security Traders, that principle resonates deeply.

Ownership changes the starting line.

Teaching a young person about capital is valuable. Giving that person an opportunity to participate in capital formation can be transformative.

Technology Meets Opportunity

The scope of Fostering the Future has also moved beyond traditional philanthropy.

In March 2026, First Lady Melania Trump convened the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, bringing representatives from 45 nations together with 28 technology organizations around education technology, artificial intelligence, online safety and digital literacy.

That combination—children, education, technology and economic independence—deserves attention from the financial community.

The future workforce will enter an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, digital assets, programmable money, advanced financial networks and technologies that barely existed when today’s institutions were designed.

Preparing the next generation cannot therefore mean preparing young people for yesterday’s economy.

It means giving them the confidence and tools to participate in tomorrow’s.

Twenty-Six Universities—and Growing

Since launching the Fostering the Future initiative in 2021, I have been proud to partner with 26 esteemed universities, each playing a crucial role in cultivating the leaders of tomorrow.

Melania Trump

Fostering the Future is no longer an abstract concept.

An August 2026 announcement expanded the initiative through a $2 million donation supporting participation by Indiana University and Purdue University, bringing the network to 26 academic institutions nationwide. The White House has described the initiative as a generational investment intended to turn education into employment, independence and economic contribution.

Security Traders congratulates the First Lady, the participating universities, donors, public officials and—most importantly—the students whose determination gives the initiative its purpose.

Their achievements represent something larger than a scholarship program.

They represent an investment thesis in human potential.

The 107 Perspective

The future plans surrounding 107 and Security Traders are intentionally long-term.

Security Traders is being built around a simple conviction: institutions have value when they survive their founders, transfer knowledge between generations and leave behind mechanisms through which other people can prosper.

That is why the emerging 107 philosophy places such importance on legacy, education, ownership, mentorship and stewardship.

Capital alone is not legacy.

Legacy is what capital is instructed to accomplish.

The same principle applies to influence. A platform becomes meaningful when it directs attention toward people and ideas worthy of amplification.

For that reason, Security Traders intends to use its developing communications network—including the 107 Monthly Dispatch, Security Traders editorial publishing and future educational and strategic partnerships—to promote serious initiatives that strengthen financial knowledge, technological competence, personal responsibility and economic independence among the next generation.

BE BEST and Fostering the Future belong in that conversation.

A Commitment From Security Traders

Security Traders therefore offers three words to First Lady Melania Trump and everyone building Fostering the Future:

Commend. Congratulate. Commit.

We commend the decision to focus attention on young people whose transition from foster care into adulthood can otherwise occur without the family networks, capital or professional connections many Americans take for granted.

We congratulate the students, educators, technology organizations, donors and institutions converting that mission into measurable opportunities.

And we commit to helping promote the principle behind Fostering the Future: that young Americans should be equipped not simply to receive assistance, but ultimately to acquire knowledge, develop skills, build assets and exercise independence.

That approach is not charity in its narrowest sense.

It is nation-building at the individual level.

The Rendezvous Is With the Next Generation

Reagan’s rendezvous with destiny was ultimately framed around what one generation would preserve for its children.

The circumstances have changed. The responsibility has not.

America’s next generation will inherit extraordinary technologies, enormous economic possibilities and challenges unlike anything preceding generations confronted. The question is whether they will inherit the knowledge and opportunity required to use them wisely.

First Lady Melania Trump’s Fostering the Future initiative offers one answer: start with the young people who may otherwise begin adulthood with the least—and give them the tools to build something of their own.

Security Traders believes that is worthy of recognition.

107 believes generational thinking matters.

And as Security Traders looks toward the decades ahead, it intends to stand behind efforts that transform education into capability, capability into independence, and independence into ownership.

Because ultimately, every generation has its own rendezvous with destiny.

Ours may be measured by how well we prepare theirs.
